Correctional Officer

The Ministry of Solicitor General is looking to hire 204 Correctional Officers. The candidates will be posted across different locations in Ontario, Canada. This will be a temporary job with an irregular, on call position available. Both Unilingual (English) and Bilingual (English and French) positions are available. The candidates will be provided with paid training during the job.

Key Responsibilities:

The hired candidates will be responsible for supervising the inmates. They will make sure that the inmates are safe and in custodial guidance. They will monitor the security. They will escort the inmates safely. The candidates will communicate with the inmates. The candidates will form conflict resolution techniques and implement them.

Education:

The candidates should have completed grade 12 or equivalent education. They should be at least 18 years old. They should have the emergency first aid, CPR and AED certificates. The candidates should be able to work in rotating shifts.

Experience:

There is no requirement for past work as a correctional officer. The candidates should be able to complete the medical tests during the screening process. The candidates are required to complete the on the job training before starting the work.

Skills and Competencies:

The candidates should have good situational awareness. They should be able to resolve conflicts. They should have good written and oral communication skills. The candidates should have good interpersonal skills. They should be a team player.

 Benefits

The selected candidates will get a salary of $32.15 – $37.79 on per hour basis. New recruits will get paid training. They will be eligible for the NAIP financial benefits. The candidates will get the opportunity for scholarships.
