Calgary Transit LRT Electro Mechanic Trainee Jobs. Calgary Transit is looking to hire a light rail transit (LRT) electric mechanic trainee. The people who have a background in mechanics or electronics can apply for this position. The selected candidates will work with the experienced mentors to develop their technical skills.

Key Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will work under the supervision to test and maintain the electrical components like compressors, heaters and control systems. The selected candidate will perform the inspections, repairs and modifications on rail vehicles. You will make sure that the safety standards are met. The selected candidates will conduct operational testing after repairs as well.

Education:

The qualification requirement to apply for the job is the completion of journeyman certificate. The certificate should be in heavy duty mechanic, transport technician or equivalent. A valid class 5 driver’s licence is also required. It is preferable if the candidate has a high school diploma.

Experience:

The candidate should already have experience related to heavy equipment or electromagnetics. The ability to interpret schematics and apply technical manuals is a plus point. It is expected of the candidate to follow safety standards.

Skills and Competencies:

The candidate should have Mechanical Aptitude and attention to detail. They should always be eager to learn the technical system quickly. They should have good problem solving and data analysis skills. They should have a little to work under pressure and follow the structure of training. They should be proficient in teamwork and strong communication skills.

 Benefits

If the candidate is selected, they will get a salary of $35 to $43 per hour. In addition, the training will be paid for their skill building. The benefits also include medical coverage and pension leaves.
