Deckhand
The Department of National Defence (DND) and the Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) are looking to hire a proficient candidate for the position of Deckhand (SC- DED- 02). The job location will be British Columbia and the Northwest Territories in Canada.
Key Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will be responsible for maintaining the deck overall like the equipment, machinery, perform repairs and generally looking after the ship. They will take up the role of lookout. They will help with the cargo. The candidate will participate in emergency drills. They will test the safety systems. They will provide the operational support.
Qualification:
The candidate should have Marine Emergency Duties Basic Safety and Survival Certification (STCW). They should have a ROC-MC- MC certification. They should be proficient in English. They should have good written and spoken communication skills. They should have good interpersonal skills.
Experience:
There is no demand for previous experience, but work experience at sea would be considered as an asset.
Skills and Competencies:
The candidate should know about the vessel operations. They should be physically able to work at sea. They should be able to work at sea for extended hours. The candidate should be good at team work.
