Senior Marine Safety Inspector (Master/Nautical)

Transport Canada, Marine Safety & Security is looking to hire dedicated candidates for the position of Senior Marine Safety Inspector – Inventory (Master/Nautical). The job locations will be Kingston, North York, Sarnia and Thunder Bay, Ontario in Canada.

Key Responsibilities:

The selected candidates will be responsible for reviewing the operational plans of the vessel. They will issue safe manning documents and reports. They will investigate the deficiencies that were reported in the vessel. The candidates will work with the operators and help them by providing technical advice. They will work with the stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

The candidates should have a secondary school diploma. They could also have a combination of education or training along with relevant work experience. They should have a valid Canadian Certificate of Competency as a Master or higher.

Experience Needed:

The candidates should have 5 years of experience in the Marine sector. They should have experience in technical ship management. They could also have experience in operational ship management. They should have experience as a chief mate or senior navigation officer.

The candidate should be flexible to work in a marine environment. They should have good communication skills. They should have good technical skills. They should have good operational skills. They should be able to work under strict deadlines. They should have decision making skills. They should have good judgment skills.
