Maintenance Carpenter

The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Gaming is looking to hire a Maintenance Carpenter. The job location will be Midland, Ontario in Canada. This is a temporary role for up to 15 months. The candidate will work in the Huron Heritage site.

Key Responsibilities:

The candidate will be responsible for repairing and constructing the wooden structures. They will work for both historical sites and modern facilities. They will guide the summer maintenance students. They will work with the contractors. The candidates will operate different types of vehicles. They will do the general maintenance works. They will do drywall patching, minor welding, masonry, plumbing repairs, roof maintenance and groundskeeping. They will work on the seasonal events. The candidate will help with the garden work.

Required Qualification:

The candidate should have completed training related to carpentry. They should have a valid Class G driver’s license. The candidate should have knowledge of woodwork. They should know about the tool handling.  They should know about the building codes. The candidate should know about the health and safety act. They should know how to read the paper sketches.

Experience Needed:

The candidate should have experience in carpentry. They should have experience in using the mechanical tools. They should have experience working with the historic sites. The candidate should have experience in basic plumbing.

Skills and Competencies:

The candidate should have good problem solving skills. They should have good communication skills. They should be able to work in teams. The candidate should know how to use a basic computer.
