Correctional Peace Officer (CPO 1 & 2)

The Government of Alberta, Ministry of Public Safety and Emergency Services, is looking to hire dedicated candidates for the position of Correctional Peace Officers (CPO 1 and CPO 2). This is a full time job opportunity and shift shift-based role.

Key Responsibilities Key Responsibilities:

The candidates will be responsible for maintaining the safety of correctional centres. They will take care of the security of inmates, staff and the public. They will supervise the movements of inmates. They will go on patrols and conduct the security searches. They will monitor the behaviour of the inmates. The candidates will complete the detailed reports. They will maintain the logs and data entry. They will provide guidance to the inmates. The candidates will work in collaboration with other team members.

Education Required Qualifications:

The candidates should have a high school diploma. They should have a Standard first aid and CPR level C with AED certification. There will be a current criminal records check. Minimum age should be 18 years. They should have a driver’s license.

Experience e1748081157676 Experience Needed:

The candidates should have experience in security, corrections, law enforcement, military service, emergency response or any related field. They should have a background in conflict de-escalation. They should have experience working with the youth.

Skills Skills Competencies:

The candidates should have good communication skills. They should be able to remain calm in stressful situations. They should have criminal thinking. They should be good at teamwork.

The selected candidates will get a good salary. For CPO 1, the salary will be on $29.58 to $36.55 per hour basis. For CPO 2, the salary will be on $33.42 to $41.53 per hour basis. They will get public service benefits.
