Probation and Parole Officer

The Ministry of the Solicitor General, Ontario Public Service, is looking to hire candidates for the position of Probation and Parole Officer. There are 2 temporary positions in Moosonee and Timmins, Ontario, Canada. The last date to apply for this job is January 5, 2026. The salary will be $1,506.53 to $1,861.87 on weekly basis.

Key Responsibilities:

The candidate will be responsible for supervising the adult offenders who are on probation or parole. They will do the assessment and prepare the court order reports. The candidate will monitor compliance with the court conditions. They will implement the right actions. The candidate will evaluate the individuals. They will do the interventions and counselling. They will liaise with the victims, justice partners and the police. They will look after the safety of the community.

Required Qualification:

The candidate should have a university degree in social works, psychology, sociology or criminology or any other relevant field. They should be able to travel and stay overnight whenever required. The candidate should be eligible to pass the Vulnerable Sector. The candidate  should be able to pass a driver’s license history check.

Experience Needed:

The candidate should have more than 5 years of experience in social services. They should have experience in counselling. The candidate should have experience with indigenous offenders and they should have worked with this community before.

Skills and Competencies:

The candidate should have good decision making skills. They should have good communication skills. The candidate should have strong organizational skills. They should know when to work on the priority tasks.
