Child Protection Worker (Growth)

The BC Public Service, Ministry of Children and Family development (MCFD) is looking for candidates for the position of Child Protection Worker (Growth). This will be a regular full time position in the Service Delivery Division. There will be a hybrid work option available. The candidate should have a post-secondary education in Social work. The job location will be Prince George, British Columbia, with travel to remote locations like Kwa dacha (Fort Ware) and Tsay Keh Dene. The salary will be $73,924.81 to $97,595.12 on per year basis. Key Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will be responsible for receiving and responding to the reports of child abuse. They will do the interviews with the children and the families. The candidate will implement the safety plan in collaboration with the communities. They will determine how much protection is needed. 

Required Qualification:

The candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in Social Work. They could also have a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology or Educational Counselling Psychology. They could also have a Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services Field with the relevant experience.

Experience Needed:

The candidate should have one year of experience in the relevant field of work. They should have experience in child protection, family services or youth services.

Skills and Competencies:

The candidate should have good assessment skills. They should have good decision making skills. They should know how to collaborate with the community. They should have cultural awareness. They should be able to work alone in a stressful situation. They should have documentation skills.
