Scientific Research Assistant

Agriculture and Agri- Food Canada (AAFC), Science and technology branch, is looking to hire students for the position of Scientific Research Assistant in the Research Affiliate Program (RAP). The job location is Fredericton Research and Development Centre in Fredericton, New Brunswick. These are 20 temporary vacancies available. The project duration is from April 13, 2026, to August 28, 2026. The salary is from $18.84 – $38.38. The last date to apply for this position is February 9, 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

The selected candidates will be responsible for helping the laboratory. They will help with the development of the analytical methods. They will help with the data collection and processing. The candidates will help to operate the research equipment. They will provide support during research.

Required Qualifications:

The candidates should have a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree from a recognized post-secondary institution. They should have studied in fields like Agriculture Sciences, Plant Sciences, Biology or any related field. The candidate should be a full time student. They should be eligible to work in New Brunswick. They should have a valid Class 5 New Brunswick driver’s license.

Experience Needed:

The candidates should have practical fieldwork and laboratory experience. They should have experience in collecting the data. They should know how to do sample testing.

Skills and Competencies:

The candidates should have good analytical skills. They should pay attention to detail. They should be able to follow safety standards. The candidates should be good at time management. They should have good organizational skills. They should be able to work independently and in collaboration with the team.
