Student Ranger Crew Member

Ministry of Environment and Parks, BC Parks, is looking to hire Student Ranger Crew Members (YTH EMPL 1/2). The work will be for the period of 2026 season. The job location will be Victoria, Valmont, Vancouver, Squamish, Nelson, Clearwater, Bella Coola, and Smithers in BC, Canada. This is a temporary job opportunity for people for an on site role. This will give them practical work experience.

Key Responsibilities:

The candidates will be responsible for helping with the field projects. They will collaborate with the crew leaders and members. The candidates will help with the use of equipment. They will do basic reporting. They will help to look after the safety concerns. The candidates will handle the communications equipment.

Qualification:

The candidates should be enrolled in the full time study at a secondary institute or post-secondary institute. They should have a valid BC Class 5 driver’s license. They should have volunteered in a natural setting before. They should complete a training program at the beginning of their work.

Experience:

The candidate should have experience in one of the following areas: public outreach, resource management, facility management or indigenous culture knowledge. They should have basic skills for working outdoors.

Skills and Competencies:

The candidates should know how to work in teams. They should be aware of the safety practices. They should be adaptable in work place.

 Benefits

The selected candidate will get a salary of $21.42 for Youth Employment 1 and $23.02 for Youth Employment 2. They will get a biweekly isolation allowance. The candidates will get to experience the outdoor works. They will have an opportunity for skill development.
