Child Protection Worker

The Ministry of Children and family development, BC Public service is looking to hire 2 dedicated candidates for the position of Child protection worker. These are regular and full time job opportunities. The job location is Smithers, British Columbia, Canada. The salary of selected candidates will be $83,071.72 to $94,752.42 on per year basis. The candidate should have a post-secondary education in a relevant field.  The last date to apply is February 10, 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

The candidates will interview the parents and children. They will make the protection plans. They will work with the indigenous communities. The candidates will write the documentation for the cases. They will help to promote the safety of children.

Required Qualification:

The candidates should have a bachelor’s degree or higher education. Their field of study should be social work, child and youth care or any related field. They should be eligible for delegation according to CFCSA. They should have a class 5 driver’s license. They should be eligible to pass the criminal record check.

Experience Needed:

The candidates should have worked in child welfare for 1 year. They should have experience working with sensitive children and youth. The candidates should have experience working with the indigenous communities.

Skills and Competencies:

The candidates should have good decision-making skills. They should have good communication skills. They should have cultural awareness. They should be able to handle the difficult cases. They should know how to work in collaboration.
