Carpenter
The Department of National Defence is looking to hire Carpenters (GL-WOW-09). The selected employee will be posted in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. The role will involve work such as repairing, constructing, and maintaining wooden structures. The candidates will directly work in Canada’s defence sector.
Key Responsibilities:
The main responsibilities of the selected candidates will be to perform framing, drywall installation and carpentry work. They will use power tools and hand tools and maintain the security standards. They will work with other traders on different projects. They will be responsible for maintaining equipment, tools and work documentation.
Qualification:
The candidates should have a valid Red Seal Carpenter Certification. They should have a valid Class 5 driver’s license. The candidates are encouraged to get a DND 404 departmental driver’s license as well.
Experience:
The candidates should have experience in carpentry work, such as framing, finishing, and maintenance. They should be able to work in different environments, like outdoors and indoor spaces. They should be able to work with other teams at the construction sites.
Skills and Competencies:
The candidate should have problem-solving ability. They should be ready to collaborate with other teams. They should take initiative and take quick action. They should have good communication skills.
