Environmental Public Health Officer

Indigenous Services Canada (ISC), First Nations and Inuit Health Branch, is looking to hire an Environmental Public Health Officer (EPHO) Inventory. The locations are based in Calgary and Edmonton in Alberta, Canada. The candidates should have an education in environmental or public health. The salary ranges from $86,801 to $109,119 on per year basis. The salary depends on qualification and experience. The closing date of applications is December 11, 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will be responsible for conducting inspections of environmental public health. They will provide recommendation based on the situations related to drinking water, housing, food safety and waste management. They will help to educate the community leaders about environmental health. They will monitor the health parameters. The candidates will be required to travel to First Nation communities in remote locations.

Required Qualifications:

The candidate should have a degree from a post-secondary institution with specialization in subjects like public health, environmental public health, health sciences or a related field. Or they should have completed a program of Public Health Inspection. The candidate could also have a combination of education and experience. They should have a certificate from the Public Health Inspection, Canada. They should have a driver’s license.

Experience Needed:

The candidate should have 5 years of experience in EPH. They should have experience in working with First Nation communities. They should have experience of providing suggestions to the leaders in the community.

Skills and Competencies:

The candidate should have good communication skills. They should be able to work independently in the remote area.
