Forest Officer

Key Responsibilities:

–        Work for the Wildfire Management program.

–        Acknowledge fire behaviour and fuel types. Apply firefighting techniques.

–        Coordinate with the wildfire- firefighting teams.

–        Recognize wildfires and supervise initial attack teams.

–        Enforce the fire permit legislation.

–        Support Forest health programs.

–        Ensure delivery of Forest Operations Monitoring (FOMP).

–        Conduct regular inspections in the forest areas.

Education:

–        Candidate should have completed a two-year diploma program in Forestry.

–        Candidate should have a minimum of 3 years of experience in managing forest land or wildfire.

–        There can be a combination of education and hands-on experience.

Experience:

–        Experience in wildfire management activities, including conducting educational programs.

–        Experience in monitoring forest situations and conducting inspections in the forest.

–        Experience in field coordination and leading the wildfire teams.

–        Overall, 3-year experience working in Forestry and wildfire operations.

Skills Competencies:

–        Understanding of forest ecology, fire behaviour, and fuel types.

–        Excellent knowledge of wildfire safety procedures and measures.

–        Leading wildfire detection team and operations.

–        APS Model ( developing networks, building a friendly environment for teams, systematic thinking, and agility).
