Laboratory Support Technician (Inventory) – Amendment to Salary

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), science branch, is looking to hire candidates for the position of Laboratory Support Technician (Inventory). The job location will be Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. This is a full time position that will take place onsite. The qualified candidates will be considered for further vacancies as well.

Key Responsibilities:

The candidates will be responsible for providing laboratory support. They will do tasks like preparing reagents, processing glassware and performing monthly quality assurance duties. They will operate a general laboratory . They will decontaminate equipment like autoclaves and centrifuges. They will receive and log the samples submitted for analysis. They will update the data using spreadsheets and other database software.

Required Qualifications:

The candidates should have a secondary school diploma or a combination of education and relevant experience. They should have 1 year of experience of work in healthcare, laboratory or manufacturing environments.

Experience Needed:

As an asset, the candidate could have a diploma or degree in natural or applied science. They should have experience in handling and processing samples under protocols using the Sample Manager. They should have knowledge of the ISO 17025 management system. They should have knowledge of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG).

Skills and Competencies:

The candidates should have strong attention to detail. They should be a team player. They should have strong oral and written communication skills.
