Marine Cook Positions

The Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) under the Department of National Defence (DND) is looking to hire dedicated candidates for the position of Marine Cooks. The job location is Shippagan, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Nova Scotia in the Atlantic region. This job posting is to fill all the current and future vacancies. The positions are Assistant Cook/Steward (SC-STD-03), Cook/Deckhand (SC-STD-03), Cook (SC-STD-04), and Chief Cook (SC-STD-05). The selected candidates will get a salary of $69,240 to $73,788 on per year basis, depending on their experience and education level. The last date to apply for this position is January 28, 2028.

Key Responsibilities:

The candidates are required to prepare food and serve the meals to the crew members and passengers. They will plan the menus. They will have to maintain the food safety standards. They will help with storing the food. They will keep the kitchen and dining area clean. They will also provide first aid support, if required.

Required Qualifications:

The candidates should have a Cook certificate issued by a recognized institution in Canada or a Transport Canada Ship’s Cook certificate. They should be able to get the marine medicals and certifications. They should be willing to do the MED training.

Experience Needed:

The candidates should have experience working as a professional cook. They should have experience in the hospitality sector. They should be able to lead the kitchen staff.

Skills and Competencies:

The candidate should have good communication skills. They should be good at teamwork. They should be good at organisation. They should be physically strong and able to lift up to 30 lbs. They should be flexible to adapt to the environment at work.
